Dear Families,
Welcome to first grade! My name is Shannon Langston and I am your first-grader’s teacher. I am excited to be celebrating my tenth year of teaching this year, all of which have been in Milford Schools. I graduated from Miami University with a Bachelors of Science in Education and earned a Master Degree of Education in Reading through Xavier University. This summer I took a Science Education class through Miami University and have been planning our Reading Program with Milford's First Grade teachers.

I will be sending out a Back to School Packet this month. In this packet I have included the following:
1.Welcome to First Grade Brochure
(Includes Supply List, Classroom Management Plan, The Year Ahead, and Student Id Number)
2.Introduction Sheet
3.E-mail Information Sheet

I would appreciate it if you took some time to review all the information enclosed. Meet the Teacher Open House is Thursday, September 2nd. Please fill out and bring the cut-off section of the e-mail information sheet and introduction sheet to Open House. The introduction sheet will help me learn how I can best meet your child’s needs throughout the year. Also, please bring a photograph of your child. It does not have to be a school picture. The photographs will be placed on the classroom door for the school year.

Please note: Back-to-School packet pick-up is Friday, August 27th. Please stop by at your convenience to pick up important back-to-school information. You are welcome to bring the requested items on this day and leave them in my mailbox.

The first day of first grade is very exciting for you and your child. It can also be nerve-racking not knowing what to expect. I encourage you to take a look at our classroom website. Here you can get a glimpse into our classroom and view some of our special moments from past years. Throughout the year I will add student work, celebrations, and other information to the website. I look forward to beginning the first grade journey with you and your child. See you the 2nd!
